Before any treatment is carried out a consultation is necessary to establish the correct diagnosis and work out a personalised treatment plan which is tailored to your individual skin condition. Whilst thread veins on the legs are often best treated by injection sclerotherapy (please refer to leg vein treatments for further details on this treatment), facial thread veins are best treated by laser .Lasers deliver carefully controlled doses of light energy to the veins which is absorbed by the blood and converted to heat. The heat then seals off the veins so that they can no longer carry blood and over a short period of time the veins disappear.
Thread veins will normally respond to 1 or 3 treatments but to reduce redness a course of 6 treatments is recommended.
Thread veins treated may not reappear ever, but new vessels may show up on the surface which can be then treated. However, conditions such as rosacea are progressive so new veins may appear at some point in the future making further treatment necessary though this may be after several years.
Protecting the skin from the sun by use of a UVA UVB broad spectrum sunscreen is an important part of helping to prevent new veins forming. Using Antioxidants will also prevent rupturing of new vessels.
Approx 15-30 minutes. Eye shields are worn by patient and practitioner and Aleo vera gel and ice packs will be applied to the area after treatment.
Clients can see dramatic improvements following one treatment. The exact number of treatments required will be discussed at your Consultation and will depends on the extend and size of area being treated.
Some clients can return to work and normal daily activities on the same day.Generally we recommend to have some time off after treatment to cool the area.Depending on the size and extend of areas being treated recovary may vary to a few hours to a few days.Veins can appear darker after treatment before the fade over a few days. Following treatment it is advised to cool at regular intervals with ice packs.
There should not be any serious after effects. Following treatment the area may appear pink and slightly swollen, which is normal. The thread veins treated may disappear or can appear darker and fade over the next few day.Ocassionally some clients experience puffiness around the eye area.

My wife arranged a free consultation for me at The Laser and Skin Clinic to see what treatments they could offer me for the spider veins on my face. I work outside and have seen these veins develop all over my cheeks over the past few years. They explained all about the treatment and how their full medical grade laser would successfully remove the veins. I had 4 treatments and after the treatments with the laser the veins were gone. I can't believe the results, huge difference. My wife wasso impressed with the results she has gone in for treatments herself."
